Aaron T. Beck Day: Jul 18

July 18 marks Aaron T. Beck Day, a global tribute to all who support the cause of improving mental health. Celebrated annually on Dr. Aaron Beck’s birthday, the day brings together mental health professionals from around the world to raise awareness and promote mental well-being in their communities.

The idea for Aaron Beck Day was initiated by the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy as a way to honor the legacy of Dr. Aaron Beck, the founder of cognitive therapy, following his passing in 2021 at the age of 100. Mental health professionals worldwide are encouraged to participate in the initiative by registering through the Institute’s website.

How Are We Celebrating Aaron Beck Day?

In previous years, I have contributed to the initiative in various ways:

  • 2022: In the first edition, I offered five free live 50-min consultations on the day.
  • 2023: In the second edition, I conducted free online depression screening for the whole week of July 17–21.
  • 2024: In the third edition, I ran free live 30-min individual sessions on the application of CBT to each presented case.

How to Participate this Jul 18

This year on Jul 18 I will run 30-min individual sessions, both online and live, answering the question “How can I benefit from CBT?”Everyone who is in search for a counselor or a therapist can join to discuss how we could work together.

To book your spot, please send an email to plovdivtherapy@gmail.com with the subject line “Aaron T. Beck Day.” Make sure you note whether you prefer an online or a face-to-face meeting. You will receive a reply with available time slots.

How Can You Contribute?

I warmly invite all colleagues whose professional paths have been shaped by Dr. Beck’s work to take part in the initiative. There are many ways to get involved—from hosting a workshop to translating educational materials. For inspiration and examples of good practices from the global CBT community, visit the Beck Institute’s website.

Let’s honor Dr. Beck’s legacy by continuing to promote evidence-based care and mental health support for all.
